The Forbidden Trilogy consists of three books, forbidden Mind #1, Forbidden Fire #2, and Forbidden Life #3. I was given a copy of this trilogy in exchange for my honest opinion and review of the books.

One reviewer compared the series to Alias and Dark Angel with X-Men as its backdrop. I agree that if you are fans of these series, or interested in the YA paranormal genre, Forbidden is an excellent choice.

The series revolves around a group of teens who call themselves Rent-A-Kids. Born with incredible paranormal abilities such as super strength, the ability to read minds, control elements, and walk through walls, they attend a special school at a top secret location where they not only attend classes taught by world class instructors but learn to use their skills for missions. they are able to enjoy life on a posh campus because they are used as spies for hire to individuals and corporations who can afford the high fees charges by their handlers. Sam is a mind reader. She is best friends with twins Luke, who can walk trough walls, and Lucy who is a lie detector. On assignment, Sam refuses to follow orders when her current mission is beyond her moral comfort zone. When she returns to the compound she begins to question her life at Rent-a-Kid. She along with Lucy and Luke begin to discover that all is not as it seems. Secrets begin to unravel as Sam psychically connects with Drake who is being held against his will at the facility. As the truth about the school is revealed, the lives of all the students are endangered. Beyond the campus walls, events escalate. Sam, Drake, Luke, and Lucy span the globe in search of answers and a safe haven for themselves and their paranormal friends. A great story that will keep you waiting for the next book. The special Omnibus edition has nice extra features like character bios and a short story. This was a fun read. I certainly will look for more like this from Kimberly Kinrade.
