"Moon Rise" Book 2 by Marilee Brothers
Her mom is still dating losers. Her boyfriend’s gone back to Mexico. Dad
still hasn’t told his wife and kids that she exists. At school, the drama queens
and bullies still rule. But worst of all for Allie Emerson (aka the Star Seeker
of an old Gypsy prophecy) is that her powers have taken a hike. She can’t read
minds anymore. She can’t move stuff just by looking at it. The other Star
Seekers are counting on her psychic gifts more than ever, and the evil Trimarks
are closing in, eager to snatch her magic moonstone necklace while she’s
helpless. The hot new guy at school is ready and willing to fight her battles,
but he comes with some wicked baggage.
Dear diary: I’m a little worried. My new BF is a demon.
Welcome again to Allie Emerson’s funny, scary, amazing, and always
unpredictable life, as the girl voted least likely to save the world from
evil.
Review
Monrise is book two of the Unbidden Magic series. Allie Emerson is a Star Seeker, the long awaited answer to a prophecy. She is destined to fight the evil Trimarks with the aid of her magical moonstone pendant. Living in a rural town with her mother Faye, Allie struggles to learn her destiny while dealing with the day to day issues of being a teenager. Allie has lost her powers. Her witch friend Kizzy reveals that the new boy in town, Beck Bradford has the power to heal her. Beck is half demon, with the power to seduce. Allie must learn to trust him in order to regain her powers. She must also deal with a nosy school counselor, while working to regain her powers, and fighting off the Trimarks. This is a really enjoyable YA paranormal series.
Interview with Marilee Brothers
1. When did you first realize you
wanted to be a writer?
First of all, many thanks for
featuring my books on your blog and for this interview. I appreciate it!
I have always been an avid reader
but I didn’t start writing until my three sons were grown. I began with poems
and short stories but didn’t consider writing anything longer until I took a
class and the instructor said, “You need to write a book.”
When I get stuck and the words
won’t come, I shut my computer down and hit the elliptical machine while
listening to my iPod. Something about music and repetitive exercise gets my
creative juices flowing again.
Coming up with ideas has never been
a problem for me. In fact, at this very moment, I have approximately three
books floating around in my head, waiting to be written. When I start a book, I
know the beginning and the end. What happens in between is the fascinating part of my writing journey and often takes me to places I
never dreamed of going.
I spend time with my husband and
family and sometimes hack my way around the golf course. I’m a terrible golfer
but enjoy giving it a whirl. I also spend quite a bit of time maintaining my
blog, Book Blather, and try to stay current on Facebook, Linked In and Twitter.
Of course, I still spend many hours reading.
Seven of my books have been published
and I’m working on another young adult fantasy called The Blue Rose for Bell Bridge Books that will be out before the end
of the year.
I have two favorites. Moonstone, the first book in the
Unbidden Magic series and my adult romantic suspense, The Rock and Roll Queen of Bedlam.
